Important information on health care profession salaries at the Charité
At the Charité, salaries are paid fairly and transparently according to the labor agreement for the public sector (TVöD-K).
The salary is made up of a base salary (remuneration table) and various forms of additional pay, bonuses and extras.
In medical professions, these make up a significant part of the salary. Especially at the Charité with its special remuneration models in the form of “stability services” and the “CHEP contract”.
Employees of pay scale groups P7 to P9 currently earn the following average salary. The figures include any and all additional pay, bonuses, Christmas bonuses, CHEPs and stability services. These “extras” cause individual fluctuations upwards and downwards.
- P 7 = € 65,000 gross annual salary for full-time employees (€ 5,417 per month)
- P 8 = € 70,395 gross annual salary for full-time employees (€ 5,866 per month)
- P 9 = € 75,837 gross annual salary for full-time employees (€ 6,320 per month)
We have itemized additional information on this, as well as an overview of additional pay and bonuses, below.
Base salary according to remuneration table P
The following table breaks down how much base salary is paid each month. However, the actual salary will be much higher due to various forms of additional pay, bonuses and extras.
This remuneration table (P) applies to health care professions (e.g. nursing, operating room nursing and other occupation groups). It is divided into groups and levels.
Each position or job is assigned to a group. This group is also always indicated in our job offers. Levels, on the other hand, are based on individual professional experience and qualifications. Information on classification

Additional information
Pay raise in the civil service labor agreement: more money for health care professions
All employees with a civil service labor agreement contract regularly get two forms of pay raises: collective wage increases and level promotions.
Collective wage increases: Regular increases are agreed through pay bargaining. These then automatically apply to all Charité civil service labor agreement employees.
In the last round of collective bargaining there was an inflation adjustment. In March 2024, the monthly salary was then increased by € 200 gross and subsequently by an additional 5.5 %. Employees get at least € 340 more per month since then. The labor agreement applies until the end of 2024 and will then be renegotiated.
A calculation example: Anyone who received a base monthly salary of € 3,257.43 (level 3) in group P8 will receive € 3,647.59 from March 2024. Bonuses calculated on the basis of the hourly wage (e.g. night shift bonus) also increased as a result of the higher base salary.
Level promotions: With length of service, you automatically move up the remuneration table. After two or three years at level two, you move up to level three. Then, after three more years, to level four. After four years, you reach level 5 and after five more years you reach level 6.
