Questions about training at the Charité

How will I be compensated?

You will receive a fair salary based on the labor agreement for trainees (special part for nursing) in the public sector. It starts at € 1,068.26 and can also be higher depending on the occupation group. Remuneration for training increases over the years. The contract also guarantees you 30 days of vacation per year, annual special payments, a trainee ticket, company pension, a € 400 completion bonus and tickets to travel home if applicable.

Can the training period be reduced?

The prescribed training period can be reduced in some fields. To do this, certain criteria must be met, like previous training that can be credited, for instance. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We can provide individual advice: ausbildung@charite.de 

Can I combine family and career easily at the Charité?

The Charité has been certified as a family-friendly company since 2007. We support parents by providing regular and flexible childcare, emergency care, care during overtime hours, advanced training or when a child is sick, and during vacations. What are the chances of permanent employment after a completed training?

With successfully completed training at the Charité, you have excellent chances of being taken on and switching to a permanent contract. In most health care professions (see labor agreement), our trainees will receive an employment offer at the end of the second year of training already, if they completed it successfully.

How many wards will I get to know during my training?

Your areas of deployment will vary depending on occupation group and profession. However, we make sure that you will get the most comprehensive insight into the Charité and can directly apply what you have learned in hands-on experience. How many trainee positions does the Charité have?

The Charité has a total of several hundred trainee positions. Approximately 50 trainees are hired each year.

Career entry and application process

Does the Charité also provide technical training?

Yes! Charité's subsidiary, Charité Facility Management GmbH (CFM), offers a variety of exciting additional vocational training programs. Various skilled trade but also office clerk and medical technician positions need to be filled. 

When is the application deadline or start of training?

The start of training varies depending on the training field and profession. As a rule: The sooner you apply, the better. In some cases, we fill trainee positions as early as one year before the start of training – so don't wait too long. I have a degree from abroad. Can I apply?

What language skills do I need for training at the Charité?

Please refer to the respective job posting for the trainee position for your personal requirements. If you do not meet all the requirements, please contact us for individual advice. ausbildung@charite.de

Can I also do an internship before the training?

In nursing in particular, we welcome interns. Feel free to contact praktikum-pflege@charite.de if you are interested.

How does the application process work?

Please apply within the specified application deadline using the application form, which you can access via “Apply now” in the respective job description. Please also submit your documents (cover letter, CV, school leaving certificate including the last two half-year reports and, if applicable, proof of internship and a B2 or C1 language certificate). We will then check your application and contact you. If you meet the relevant criteria, we will invite you to an interview.
