As a university hospital, teaching and research are part of our DNA, so we offer a wide range of opportunities. The possibility and the extent will be agreed on an individual basis. 

We generally also offer the possibility to work part-time. It would best to arrange the details directly with your contact person.

We provide fair and transparent compensation – including 30 days of vacation – in accordance with the labor agreement. The different service models also allow for additional vacation days and compensatory time off. You can find the labor agreements and pay scales here.

The Charité has been certified as a family-friendly company since 2007. We support parents by providing regular and flexible childcare, emergency care, care during overtime hours, advanced training or when a child is sick, and during vacations. Whether you are a student at the university, a doctoral student, a research assistant, a working group leader or a professor: To successfully research, you need to establish a global network and collaborate with international partners in advance research projects. Yes, you can. In collaboration with the Berlin School of Public Health (BSPH), the Charité offers, for example, various Master's programs and intensive short courses.

Whether you are a physician undergoing advanced training or a specialist or senior physician – we offer attractive advanced training options. Be it in clinical practice, science and research, teaching or one of the thematic worlds of our training academy. The Clinician Scientist Pilot Programs of the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) are designed as target-group and career-phase specific, sustainable funding programs aiming at a close integration of individual and institutional funding. Apart from that there are, of course, opportunities for postdoctoral qualification as well as the possibility for subspecialization.

Once you have submitted your application, we will review it and contact you. If you meet the criteria required for the position, we will invite you for an interview. This can be either digital or in person, depending on your preference. One-day job shadowing is possible upon request, and in some cases mandatory. You can expect a final response to your application about a week after the interview (and possibly job shadowing).

For a practical year at the Charité, you must be enrolled at a German university. You can find more information on the practical year here.

Provided that you complete your entire training period with us, we will also offer you the mandatory assignments provided for in the training curriculum. Depending on the continuing education requirements, this may also include work in intensive care. In case of a change during advanced training, please turn to the contact persons of the clinics directly so that these times can be planned explicitly.

We also welcome people who have – for a variety of reasons – taken a long break from their learned professions or have not worked in the clinical field for a long time.

A doctorate is often requested but not a requirement for employment. You are also welcome to complete you doctoral thesis in one of the research groups.

Yes, people from over 100 nations work at the Charité. The prerequisites for your start as a doctor at the Charité are a work permit, approval of your license to practice medicine, German at the level of C1 and, of course, a vacancy. We will be happy to support you wherever possible. You can find all the necessary information here.
