Working at Charité

We are seeking a motivated team member to support the implementation of the DZHK-funded XCVD cohort study starting January 1, 2027. The study is led by Prof. Sofia Forslund-Startceva (Forslund Lab, Experimental and Clinical Research Center, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin & Max Delbrück Center). The study investigates how gender-affirming hormone therapy affects cardiovascular disease risk factors and explores the potential role of the gut microbiome in mediating these effects. A total of 200 transgender individuals will be recruited and followed as part of the cohort.

As part of the study, blood, stool, saliva, and skin samples will be collected to analyze hormone levels, metabolic and inflammatory markers, and the microbiome. In addition, data on body composition and lung function, as well as dietary habits, lifestyle, and psychosocial health, will be collected. Assessments will include well-being, gender dysphoria, stress, fatigue, depressive symptoms, physical activity, quality of life, and sleep.

The position is initially limited in duration, with the possibility of an extension based on suitability and mutual interest. An increase in working hours may also be possible in the future.

Overview of the position

  • Recruitment, screening, and support of study participants
  • Planning and conducting study visits, both remotely and on-site, including spirometry, blood collection, and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA)

  • Study documentation, including data entry in REDCap and completeness checks
  • Communication with study participants by phone and email, including the communication of test results
  • Scheduling and coordination of study visits and study procedures
  • Organization and management of study materials, including ordering and invoice verification
  • Collaboration and coordination within the study team, including participation in study team meetings
  • Supervision and support of interns and students
