The close integration of research and practice, interdisciplinary cooperation and a wide range of funding and qualification opportunities create ideal conditions for the academic development on all career levels.

The Charité offers support and development opportunities for academic researchers, teachers and clinical scientists across all career phases. The training academy provides a broad range of advanced training offers – from scientific work and leadership skills to the acquisition of third-party funding. BIH's Biomedical Innovation Academy and the Berlin University Alliance also offer a wide range of further training courses that Charité employees can attend. Mentoring programs enable the professional and personal exchange between different levels of experience and support a targeted career development. The Charité International Office supports international researchers when they start working in Berlin, for example with administrative processes and guidance for their new working environment. 

Promoting talented, motivated and committed scientists is a central objective of the Charité. For this reason, we support you at every career stage – from studies to academic independence – with structured promotion programs and a wide range of career opportunities throughout your academic career. The Academic Grants' Committee is responsible for the scientific selection of the recipients.

Science, research and progress have a long tradition at the Charité and are closely linked to health care. The Charité supports and encourages its employees to become active in the field of science.

Talents from all over the world are attracted to the Charité as a science location. On the one hand, because of the technical possibilities. But above all to benefit from a unique network. After all, about 5,000 experts work at the Charité in a wide variety of fields. Research projects get targeted support.

Focal points of research and science

The Charité research projects are as diversified as the disorders that are treated there every day. Research is conducted on widespread diseases as well as in specialized areas – interprofessionally as well as with new and modern approaches. Individual initiatives are encouraged, be it in basic research or in application-oriented research.
