Working at Charité

CRC/TR 412 (TRR 412) is a DFG-funded Transregio Collaborative Research Center seeking to address the pressing need for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms in Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). To this end, CRC/TR 412 brings together the expertise of clinicians and basic researchers from Charité – Universitaetsmedizin Berlin, TU Dresden, the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics at Dresden, and the M3 Research Institute at Tübingen.

From 1 October 2025, TRR 412 projects at Charité – Universitaetsmedizin Berlin offer 3 part time positions for technicians to highly motivated candidates with interest in translational liver research. In these positions, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation of our biobank and support our clinical liver-specific phenotyping efforts, including the performance of transient elastography and other assessment techniques. laboratory and the successful advancement of our scientific initiatives.

Overview of the position

  • Assist in the planning, execution, documentation, and analysis of research projects within our collaborative framework
  • Collaborate closely and maintain effective communication with scientific and medical colleagues within the team, as well as with research partners from CRC/Tr 412 consortium
  • Manage the procurement, organization, and storage of reagents and consumables to ensure smooth laboratory operations

Depending on your project

  • Assist with immunological phenotyping and functional characterization of liver disease processes with a focus on MASLD
  • Organize and conduct biobanking and distribution of human adult and pediatric biological samples, with a focus on liver tissue samples
  • Assist in processing clinical data, including integrating data into CRC/TR 412 central databases
  • Organize and oversee regulatory aspects related to sample and data management

What we are looking for

  • You completed professional training as a state-certified medical technologist or a comparable qualification
  • You have a structured, transparent, and process-oriented approach to your work and possess organizational skills
  • You have strong communication skills, flexibility, and open-mindedness
  • You are reliable, a team player, and enthusiastic, and are interested in working in an international, multi-professional team
  • You are confident in using MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and specialist software

Depending on your project:

  • You bring a background in clinical studies and biobanking, complemented by an interest in data science
  • You bring experience with multiparameter flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy
  • You are familiar with animal experimentation in mice (optional)

Information regarding the position

  • Pay grade E9b TVöD VKA-K. Classification is based on qualifications, with the respective level of experience calculated on the basis of years of professional experience. The annual salary (gross) is stated for a full-time position without annual bonus payments, allowances and additional services
  • The working hours are part-time, 19.25 hours per week
  • The position is limited until 30.06.2029, as it is tied to the project duration
  • We offer 30 days of holiday as standard
