Working at the Charité

Our project aims to advance our understanding of autoantibody-mediated diseases by characterizing NMDAR autoantibodies at the molecular level and supporting the development of novel targeted therapies. We work at the intersection of neurology and immunology, collaborating with experts in structural biology, neuroscience, and cell therapy. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research that could transform the treatment of autoimmune encephalitis and is part of a newly established DFG-funded Emmy Noether Programme investigating autoimmune encephalitis through both wet-lab and computational approaches. Job Overview

You will design, conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments focusing on: 

  • Characterization of NMDAR autoantibody epitopes using tissue assays, ELISA, and computational methods 
  • Analysis of functional effects of different NMDAR antibodies 
  • Collaboration with structural biology partners to determine autoantibody binding structures
  • Documentation and presentation of research findings 

Scientific staff is given sufficient time to carry out their own scientific work in accordance with their employment relationship (§110 BerHG)

Your Profile

Applicants should possess a robust background in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with ELISA or other protein analysis methods
  • Experience with python or Alphafold preferred 
  • Knowledge of basic immunological techniques 
  • Experience with tissue culture techniques 

Additional qualifications we seek: 

  • Teamwork: Dedicated with proven ability to work effectively in a team 
  • Leadership and initiative: Enthusiastic and self-motivated with demonstrated track record in conducting research projects 
  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience, or related field

Job Information

  • Salary group E13 according to TVöD- VKA-K. The classification is based on qualification, the respective experience level is calculated from the years of professional experience. The annual salary (gross) is given for a full-time position without annual bonus, allowances and additional services. You can find the collective agreement here
  • The working time is part-time with 25.03 hours (65%) per week
  • At our company 30 days of vacation are standard
