Working at the Charité

The Ralser Laboratory at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, renowned for its pioneering work in cellular metabolism, provides an exceptional environment for scientific growth and innovation.
As part of the "Fungal Tolerance" project, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to carry out metallomic experiments using ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) as soon as possible.

We offer an exciting and current research topic in the field of metal biology and microbial resistance research, an interdisciplinary and dynamic working environment in an international team as well as the opportunity for personal and professional development.

Job Overview

  • Conducting CP-MS analyses to investigate metal biology in microorganisms with a special focus on pathogenic fungi
  • Analysis of metal ion distributions in different microbial systems to investigate resistance mechanisms against antimicrobial substances
  • Development and optimization of methods for metal ion quantification in biological samples
  • Examination of the interactions between metal ions and antimicrobial agents and their influence on microbial growth and tolerance
  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams for integration of metallomic data into comprehensive studies on microbial resistance and tolerance mechanisms
  • Presentation of research results at national and international conferences and publication in scientific journals

Scientific employees are given sufficient time for their own scientific work in accordance to their employment relationship.

Required:

  • Completed doctorate in biochemistry, microbiology, analytical chemistry or related fields
  • Profound knowledge of ICP-MS technology and experience in conducting metallomic analyses
  • Experience in microbiological experiments and interest in microbial resistance mechanisms
  • Strong ability for interdisciplinary collaboration
  • High motivation and independence in scientific work
  • Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken

Job Information

  • Salary group E13 according to TVöD- VKA- K. The classification is based on qualification, the respective experience level is calculated from the years of professional experience. The annual salary (gross) is given for a full-time position without annual bonus, allowances and additional services. You can find the collective agreement here
  • The working time is full-time with 39 hours per week
  • At our company 30 days of vacation are standard
