Nursing

We are looking for outgoing people who thrive in the varied, yet challenging nursing professions. At the Charité, you can actively participate in many different specialized and functional areas and collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines. With our extensive training and continuing education opportunities, as well as our more than 100 clinics and wards, you will be able to fulfill your professional potential.

As a member of the nursing professions, you will be making an essential contribution to the optimal care of patients. You will be integrated in the overall care process, from the admission to the discharge of patients. In addition to the planning and implementation of various care measures, carrying out prophylactic measures and assisting in examinations will also be among your responsibilities.

Nursing professionals are always part of multiprofessional teams. You will work collaboratively and on equal professional footing with physicians, therapists, psychologists, medical-technical professionals, and many other colleagues. In addition to assisting patients, you will also be responsible for administrative work. At the Charité, our staff uses digital patient files to simplify various processes and avoid the use of paper.

Things will never be boring at the Charité because you will be encountering rare diseases, state-of-the-art technology, and innovative treatment options. Furthermore, numerous advancement options will be available to you. We offer further training and continuing education options as well as an opportunity to get to know our more than 100 wards and clinics.

But work is not everything: We will support you if you need to care for children or other relatives and ensure a healthy work-life balance. Get in touch with us, and arrange a personal appointment so that you can learn more about what it is like to work at the Charité.

Perioperative section

You want to work in high-tech operating rooms, help treat complex cases, and learn more every day? The perioperative sections of the Charité offers just that! The Charité is looking for enthusiastic scrub nurses and anesthesiologist assistants, health and (pediatric) nurses, and medical assistants.

Your day-to-day work at the Charité will include time spent in the operating room, in anesthesia, and in close cooperation with the wards. Generally speaking, if you are working as part of the perioperative services unit at our hospital, you will be caring for people before, during, and after a surgical procedure ‒ depending on the occupational category.

In the anesthesia perioperative service, you will work in close collaboration with the anesthesiologists, supervising general and regional anesthesia. This includes in particular the monitoring and care of the patients. As a scrub nurse or nurse specialist in the operating room, on the other hand, you will be preparing instruments, materials and equipment, providing instruments at the operating table, or providing nonsterile assistance.

Discreet, trusting, and at the same time professional interaction with patients is standard practice everywhere at the Charité. Since patients are often not awake in the operating room, this is particularly important there. Teamwork and good cooperation are always a top priority. Members of the perioperative service work closely and at eye level with anesthetists and surgeons.

Accordingly, strong communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and technical understanding are particularly important for work in the perioperative section. For the very varied and challenging work in the OR, the Charité offers the option of getting to know a wide variety of areas, as well as a number of individual personal development opportunities and collaboration in an interdisciplinary team. Boredom is never an issue here.

Therapy

(occupational and physical therapist, massage and medical spa therapist)

Life is movement! You enjoy being actively involved in a person’s recovery? Then come to the Charité! We are looking for physical and occupational therapists, as well as massage and medical spa therapists (MMB), who support our patients, with empathy and passion toward their profession, helping them to (re)establish their mobility and thus their quality of life and to maintain it as long as possible.

In physiotherapy and occupational therapy, we support the holistic approach of enabling patients to achieve the greatest possible physical and mental independence. As a therapist at the Charité, you will be able to use various technical aids to promote the motor skills and perception of your patients or to maintain or increase their mobility and resilience.

Using targeted therapy concepts and exercise programs, you will support people in their recovery process. You will provide assistance with functional disorders, for example, and develop individual treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the patient, so that you can carry them out together. It is up to you to react to your patients' complaints with a high degree of empathy, to act confidently, and to structure your tasks.

All those practicing therapy professions at the Charité are part of a large team, have a broad range of qualifications, and work independently. Multiprofessional cooperation is practiced with physicians and all other health care professionals. Good team spirit and exchange with colleagues is just as important at the Charité as the wide range of continuing education opportunities that we offer you on an ongoing basis.

In addition to appropriate pay and a good work-life balance, you can expect state-of-the-art equipment as well as opportunities to try out the latest treatment methods and to participate in innovations in therapy. Join the Charité and get patients moving again, in the truest sense of the word.

Midwives

Do you want to work at the highest medical level, constantly learn new things, and always be close to women and their families? Then you have truly come to the right place. At the Level I Perinatal Center of the Charité, we see around 5,000 births a year at two central locations in Berlin – with a well-coordinated and interdisciplinary team. We would be happy to have your support as a midwife!

As a midwife, you are an expert in pregnancy, midwifery, and postpartum care. In addition to the care of physiological deliveries, your daily routine at the Charité will also include attending the births of mothers and children who are ill. The range of treatments for rare disorders is unique in Berlin and beyond its borders. You will also be part of a team that is particularly well-versed in dealing with spontaneous twin deliveries as well as natural deliveries from breech presentations, which are preceded by an extensive consultation. If necessary, we also offer a sectio – the so-called “Caesarean” – as standard.

Another focus of your midwifery work at the Charité will be the care of pregnant women on our prepartum wards. Whether assisting during premature labor, the induction of labor, or in many other situations – loving midwifery care is especially important to us.

As far as possible, you will work independently with women who are pregnant or giving birth, but will always be in close contact with a highly qualified interdisciplinary team. In addition, the resident and senior physicians on duty will be available to assist you, and the experts from the neonatology and anesthesiology departments right next door can be on site within seconds. With us, you will experience comparatively flat hierarchies and trusting interaction.

Together with us, you can pass on this good team spirit and values such as honesty and respect to our midwifery students, who are trained here. In total, the Charité accompanies three midwifery courses and offers the trainees and students close personal exchange through a mentoring system.

You are reliable, have good communication skills, are a team player, and are interested in passing on your knowledge as well as learning new things? Then join us and make the birth of their child a unique and unforgettable moment for women and families.
