Working in the administration of the Charité

How will I be compensated?

If you work for us, you will be compensated fairly and transparently in accordance with the applicable labor agreement – and that includes 30 days of annual leave. You can find our labor agreements and salary scales here.

Can I enjoy a healthy balance between family life and career if I work at the Charité?

The Charité has been certified as a family-friendly company since 2007 already. We support parents with regular and flexible childcare, with care in emergencies, overtime or if their child is ill as well as during the holidays. There is a family-friendly pool for employees in the healthcare professions who wish to reduce their working hours or make them more flexible. Find out more here.

Is it possible to work part time?

Generally, we also offer the option to work part time. The best way to determine whether and how you can do this is to speak directly with your respective contact person.

Is it possible to work remotely?

We offer the option of working remotely, however it is dependant on the department and requirements of the job. Further details can be discussed with your respective contact person of the department or job you are interested in.

What opportunities are there for advancement?

The Charité will support your career and promote your further education. We are convinced that we can provide the best healthcare only if all Charité employees are able to grow and push their boundaries – whether in clinical routine care, as mentors, in their studies, in research or through teaching. You can find out more about the further education and training opportunities we offer here.

Are COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory at the Charité?

Since March 15, 2022, employees in health and care facilities must provide proof of full vaccination protection as part of the facility-related mandatory vaccinations. It is irrelevant in this context whether you work in patient care or behind the scenes. We take the protection of our staff, patients and students against infection very seriously. Starting October 1, 2022, full vaccination protection applies with three vaccinations and an interval of three months between the second and third vaccination. You can find information on recovery status and other questions here.

What documents do I need for my application?

As a general rule, you should have a cover letter, your curriculum vitae and credentials as well as your professional certification and any other relevant certificates. Alternatively, you can contact us via the quick application route – this is a very simple process and you do not need to submit any documents.

I did not complete my training in Germany and would like to work at the Charité. Can I do that?

Yes – we have people from over 100 nations working with us at the Charité. We will be pleased to advise and support you in getting the necessary papers ready so that you can quickly and easily start working with us. You can find information about this process here.

What is the application process like?

As soon as you have submitted your documents, we will check them and contact you. If you fulfil the criteria for the role in question, we will invite you to attend a digital or in-person interview, depending on your preference. One-day shadowing sessions are also possible on request, and are mandatory in some cases. You can expect to receive a definitive response to your application around one week after the interview (and the shadowing session where relevant).
