Working at Charité
Join our team!
We are an enthusiastic, interdisciplinary and collaborative team within the Department of Neurology with Experimental Neurology, located at Campus Mitte of the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany. Our group aims to obtain a better understanding of the biology and cellular heterogeneity of brain tumors, in particular what drives their evolution and how this is influenced by factors of ageing. To achieve this, we utilize bulk and single-cell genomics technologies together with functional studies in patient-derived tumor cells. Our group (www.liu-lab.org) is funded by the Max-Eder program of the Deutsche Krebshilfe, the DFG, and the Hertie Network of Excellence in Clinical Neuroscience. Please reach out if you want to join us in this quest of tackling aggressive brain tumors!
Overview of the position
As part of our dedicated team, you will be involved in the following activities, including but not limited to:
- Processing and analysis of multi-omics datasets: You will be responsible for the processing, quality control, and analysis of multi-omics datasets, particularly those generated through genome, epigenome, and transcriptome sequencing. In addition, you will contribute to the quality-assured deposition of data in appropriate access-controlled public repositories and ensure transparent and reproducible documentation of the underlying bioinformatics analysis workflows.
- Experimental work with primary patient material: You will contribute to the isolation, FACS-based sorting, cultivation, and processing of primary patient cells for the generation of (single-cell) multi-omics sequencing datasets, as well as for the establishment and characterization of patient-derived cell models.
- Independent scientific project work and collaboration: Working closely with team members and collaborators, you will investigate scientific questions both independently and as part of a team. Your responsibilities will include experimental design, data analysis and visualization, interpretation of results, and planning of the next project steps.
- Scientific documentation and communication: You will document and communicate scientific workflows and findings effectively, both orally and in writing, tailoring your communication to the intended audience. You will also present and discuss your results within the research group, at the institute, and with national and international collaborators, including through progress reports, oral presentations, and scientific manuscripts.
