Working at Charité

At the Institute of Cardiovascular Computer-Assisted Medicine (ICM), an interdisciplinary team of experts from the fields of engineering, computer science, and medicine develops innovative solutions in the areas of novel measurement technologies, artificial organs, computational fluid dynamics, and AI-based medical image processing. The Institute collaborates with Technische Universität Berlin and the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) in both teaching and research.

Your Responsibilities

  • Development and optimization of models that combine mechanistic simulation and artificial intelligence to generate synthetic data
  • Development and testing of a camera-based assistance system for ultrasound imaging in patients
  • Close collaboration with project partners at Fraunhofer and in industry
  • Presentation and publication of scientific results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervision of students’ theses within the project

In accordance with § 110 (4) sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), scientific staff are granted appropriate time during working hours to pursue their own academic qualification.

Your profile

  • Completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Medical Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline
  • Experience in medical imaging, ultrasound, stereo image processing, and artificial intelligence for image processing
  • Strong interest in translational research at the intersection of engineering, physics, and medicine
  • Proficiency in scientific programming, e.g., C++ and Python
  • Fluent written and spoken English (C1 level); good knowledge of German (B2 level) is an advantage
  • Independent, structured, and self-motivated approach to work
  • Enjoyment of and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration

Information regarding the position

  • Salary group E13 TVöD VKA-K. You can find all information on salary and the applicable collective agreement here
  • The position is full-time with 38.5 hours per week and is fixed-term until 31 November 2029 in accordance with TzBfG § 14 Abs. 1
  • 30 days of paid vacation per year
