Working at Charité

Our lab's research (https://www.claudiaboehmlab.com/) is dedicated to uncovering how experiences transform neural activity. We focus on learning, the neural circuits and codes governing cognitive flexibility and social cognition and the disruption of cognitive processes in models of increased vulnerability to mental disorders. To address these questions, we use rodent models combined with advanced techniques such as large-scale electrophysiological recordings with Neuropixels probes, innovative behavioral paradigms, optogenetic perturbations, and advanced data analysis methods. 

For a newly funded project investigating the neural codes underlying cognitive and social behavior, and how these are shaped by early life experience, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher.

Overview of the position

  • Develop and implement data analysis routines for large-scale data sets (including neural and behavioral data)
  •  Develop and conduct behavioral and electrophysiological experiments in rodents 
  • Write and publish research articles, and present results at meetings and conferences
  •  Actively contribute to a collaborative, supportive team
  • You will be employed as a research associate: Pursuant to Section 110 (4), sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), research associates are entitled to an appropriate amount of working time during their regular working hours for their own further academic qualification.
     
     

What we are looking for

  • PhD in a relevant field, e.g. (computational) neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related discipline
  • Solid knowledge and experience in scientific programming and neural data analysis, demonstrated by excellent research achievements
  • Demonstrated experience with neural data acquisition, preferably Neuropixels, tetrodes, or similar high-resolution techniques
  • Analytical and goal-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills in English

Information regarding the position

  • Paygrade E13 according to TVöD VKA-K. Your job grade depends on your job qualification whereas the experience level depends on the number of working years. The yearly gross salary is hereby provided based on a full time position excluding yearly bonus and additional pay. You may find further information here
  • Working hours is full-time with up to 38.5 hours per week. 
  • The position is limited for 3 years, as it is tied to the project duration
