Working at Charité

Shape the future of precision oncology with us.

At Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of Europe's leading academic medical centers, you will join an internationally recognized research environment at the interface of Spatial Biology, Single-Cell Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Translational Surgery. Working alongside bioinformaticians, clinicians, surgeons, pathologists, and molecular biologists, you will help develop the next generation of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for pancreatic cancer.

Benefit from cutting-edge technologies, unique clinical cohorts, international collaborations, and the opportunity to contribute your own scientific ideas while helping shape the future of precision oncology.

Overview of the position

Become part of a newly established, internationally oriented translational research platform at Charité that combines Spatial Biology, Single-Cell Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Precision Oncology to address fundamental questions in pancreatic cancer biology and translate discoveries into clinical applications.

  • Analyze and integrate high-dimensional multi-omics datasets, including spatial transcriptomics, single-cell/single-nucleus RNA sequencing, imaging, and clinical datasets, to identify novel biomarkers, molecular pathways, and therapeutic targets.
  • Develop innovative bioinformatics workflows and AI-driven analytical pipelines to investigate the tumor microenvironment, cellular plasticity, metastasis, and mechanisms of therapy resistance, and validate findings across large international datasets and clinical cohorts.
  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary and internationally connected team of bioinformaticians, surgeons, pathologists, molecular biologists, and data scientists, contributing to high-impact publications and large collaborative research consortia, including PrepAIred, LIMPACT, and PERCEPTION.
  • Play a key role in establishing an internationally visible translational research platform at the interface of Bioinformatics, Spatial Biology, Artificial Intelligence, and Precision Oncology, with the opportunity to develop your own scientific ideas, establish international collaborations, and strengthen your academic profile through high-impact publications and competitive grant applications.
  • You will be employed as a scientific researcher. In accordance with §110 (4), sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), appropriate working time will be allocated to support your own scientific qualification and career development.

What we are looking for

  • A completed university degree and PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Medical Informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in the analysis of spatial transcriptomics and single-cell/single-nucleus RNA sequencing datasets, with a strong interest in translational cancer research.
  • Excellent programming skills in R and/or Python, as well as experience in developing and implementing bioinformatics analysis pipelines.
  • Ideally, experience integrating multimodal datasets and a background in tumor biology, oncology, or immunology, with enthusiasm for working in interdisciplinary and international research environments.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and the ambition to further develop your scientific career within an innovative and internationally visible research program...

Charité offers you

  • An exciting and highly independent position at one of Europe's leading academic medical centers within an internationally recognized research environment.
