Working at Charité
A BTA/MTA/CTA position is available starting 01.02.2026 at the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology at Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin (AG Kühnen). The position is part of the ERC-funded research project “E-VarEndo”. Our group’s research focuses on rare endocrine and metabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on epigenetic mechanisms involved in the central regulation of body weight and on thyroid hormone–mediated human brain development. To investigate the impact of genetic and epigenetic variants on hormonally regulated molecular pathways, we employ human experimental systems based on human embryonic stem cells (hESC) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC). We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic, talented, and motivated Technical Assistant to support this project and contribute to our ongoing research efforts.
Overview of the position
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and maintain mammalian cell culture, including routine culture of human cell lines; experience with stem cells (hESC/iPSC) is a strong plus.
- Conduct RNA/DNA extraction, bisulfite conversion, PCR, qPCR, genotyping and cloning.
- Assistance in preparation of samples for methylome analysis.
- Support differentiation experiments using human stem-cell-derived models relevant to epigenetic patterning.
- Perform routine lab duties: ordering, documentation, organization, and support with safety compliance.
- Contribute to smooth workflows within a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.
What we are looking for
- · Completed training as BTA/MTA/CTA or equivalent qualification.
- · Strong hands-on experience in cell culture and routine molecular biology.
- · Experience with RNA/DNA workflows, PCR, and sequencing preparation.
- · Previous exposure to stem cell culture is highly desirable.
- · Organizational skills, reliability, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
