Working at Charité

The Translational Thoracic Pathology research group works on translational questions related to various neoplasms of the thorax. Our particular focus is on investigating predictive tumor characteristics in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In close collaboration with the Charité Lung Tumor Center, we characterize clinical cohorts at the histomorphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular-pathological levels.

Overview of the position

  • Your main task is the analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics datasets from a translational research project on lung cancer.
  • You independently perform bioinformatic analyses, test tumor-biological and clinical hypotheses, develop approaches to validate your results, and create publication-ready figures.
  • Depending on your interests and methodological focus, you will support other translational research projects within the group.
  • You will be employed as a research associate: According to §110 (4), sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), research staff are granted an appropriate amount of time within their working hours for their own academic further qualification.

What we are looking for

  • You have completed a degree in bioinformatics or in biology/medicine/biotechnology with a strong bioinformatics focus.
  • You are proficient in the programming language R.
  • You already have experience in analyzing single-cell or spatial transcriptomics datasets.
  • You work independently, conscientiously, and with great attention to detail.
  • You are interested in linking bioinformatic analyses with medical and tumor-biological research questions.

Charité offers you

  • A professional collaboration within a motivated and interdisciplinary team at the interface between pathology and clinical practice
  • Affiliation with a structured doctoral program (BSIO or CompCancer)
  • A future-oriented, varied, and challenging role with a high degree of personal responsibility
  • The opportunity to improve cancer patient care within a translational research project
  • Extensive free training and continuing education opportunities
