Overview of the position

The focus is on the independent review, negotiation and conclusion of MTAs (Material Transfer Agreements) and MDTAs (Material and Data Transfer Agreements) in German and English

Other possible tasks include:

  • Evaluating incoming invention disclosures with regard to their eligibility for protection through patent, literature and market searches
  • Advising inventors at Charité and BIH on how to improve patentability and protectability
  • Support and advice on the preparation of patent specifications and support during the patent grant procedure
  • Assessment of exploitation potential and advice on other intellectual property rights
  • Identifying and approaching potential exploitation partners from industry
  • Collaboration in the development of the Charité and BIH technology portfolio
  • Scouting and identification of transfer-relevant projects at Charité and BIH
  • Conception and implementation of consultations and further training of scientists on the subject of IP (Intellectual Property), property rights such as patents and exploitation opportunities

What we are looking for

  • Completed university degree in life sciences, doctorate an advantage 
  • Experience in the transfer area at the interface between science, clinic and industry advantageous 
  • Broad biomedical expertise
  • Knowledge and experience in evaluation, protection and exploitation of intellectual property desirable 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of patent law, ArbErfG, regulations such as ISO standards, Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and Medicinal Products Act (AMG) advantageous
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the customary market conditions for IP regulations in exploitation agreements
  • Experience in training scientists on the subject of IP and transfer is an advantage
  • Business fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • Confident handling of MS Office
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills 
  • Ability to work in a team as well as a goal-oriented, flexible and cooperative way of working

Information regarding the position

  • Salary group E13 according to TVöD VKA-K or Ä1 TV-Ärztliche Beschäftigte.The classification is based on qualification, the respective experience level is calculated from the years of professional experience. The annual salary (gross) is given for a full-time position without annual bonus, allowances and additional services. You can find the collective agreement here
  • The working time is full-time with 38.5 hours per week
  • The position is limited until June 30, 2029, in accordance with § 14 (1) TzBfG
  • At our company 30 days of vacation are standard
