Arbeiten an der Charité

The research building "Der Simulierte Mensch" (Si-M) is an innovative joint facility of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin. Its goal is the development of human models to simulate physiological and pathological processes in humans. Within Si-M, the Microscopic Imaging Platform plays a central role in the phenotypic and functional characterization of human cells, organoids, and tissues in highly complex experimental setups across various organ systems.

We offer a dynamic research environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, close collaboration with leading scientists from diverse disciplines, the opportunity to establish and further develop innovative technologies, support for continuing education and career development, as well as flexible working hours and family-friendly conditions.

Die Stelle im Überblick

A core aspect of Si-M’s research agenda is the development, refinement, and application of human model systems to simulate physiological and pathophysiological processes in a translational context. Consequently, high-resolution, light microscopy-based analysis of diverse tissue types—including 3D ex vivo cultures, biopsies, and stem cell-derived organoids in static and dynamic (fluidic) systems—constitutes a key focus of numerous research projects. The platform is equipped with a comprehensive suite of high-end microscopy systems and complementary analytical infrastructure.

  • Operational and research-oriented leadership of the Microscopic Imaging Platform as a shared facility
  • Personnel leadership, budget responsibility, and resource management
  • Operation and quality assurance of the technical infrastructure
  • User support, consultation, and training
  • Participation in scientific collaboration projects and acquisition of third-party funding
  • Implementation of quality, risk, and safety management systems

Danach suchen wir

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, natural sciences, or engineering; PhD in cell biology, neurobiology, biophysics, or a related field
  • Extensive expertise in high-resolution light microscopy techniques (e.g., confocal, live-cell/tissue, lightsheet, multiphoton microscopy) and specialized applications (e.g., FRET, FRAP, FLIM, FCS)
  • Solid knowledge in digital image analysis, AI-driven evaluation methods, and programming (e.g., Python, ImageJ/Fiji, Arivis, Imaris)
  • Proven experience in the establishment, operation, and strategic development of scientific infrastructures (e.g., core facilities) and in third-party funding acquisition and project management
  • In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure administration (hardware management, big data, OMERO) and regulatory frameworks (biological safety, laser protection, GDPR, GxP/GLP)
  • Strong background in molecular cell biology (e.g., transfection, CRISPR/Cas, optogenetics) and sample preparation/panel design (IHC, IF, live-cell imaging, high-content imaging)
  • Advanced technical skills in operating, maintaining, and ensuring quality control of complex microscopy systems
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with a high level of service orientation and excellent communication, training, and consulting capabilities for diverse user groups
