Company describtion

The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large. Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar.

For the team SPARK-BIH at Chrité BIH Innovation (CBI) starting from the earliest possible date limited until 31.12.2026 we are looking for project manager (f/m/d) in full-time or part-time (min. 30h/week)

One of the Berlin Institute´s of Health at Charité (BIH's )strategic focuses is the field of gene and cell therapies. The BIH has been commissioned by the BMBF to coordinate the development of a national strategy for gene and cell-based therapies by including all relevant stakeholders and subsequently implement it. Part of the national strategy is the specific support of translational projects by a funding mechanism, which is nationally implemented via the SPARK-BIH program and SPARK method.

SPARK-BIH is part of Charité BIH Innovation (CBI) - the joint technology transfer of BIH and Charité as well as the SPARK Global network. SPARK-BIH is a funding and mentoring program that aims to accelerate the translation of basic research findings into clinical applications. Project teams are specifically supported in the implementation of their transfer projects with financial support, project management, and mentoring. In addition, SPARK-BIH organizes seminars and workshops that offer structured training in translation and entrepreneurship.

What you can expect

  • Selection and Supervision of projects with transfer potential in the field of gene and cell therapy 
  • Familiarization with the respective specialist area and content of the project teams 
  • Development of project-specific work plans including milestone planning and budget planning
  • Follow-up of project progress including preparation of reports for documentation purposes 
  • Identification of experts and recruiting them for project-specific consulting, input and mentoring
  • Organizing and leading regular project meetings, in some cases with external experts, at various locations in Germany 
  • Conception and organization of educational offers in the field of gene and cell therapy
  • Close and trusting communication with the scientists and clinicians involved

What you bring along

  • You have successfully completed a scientific university degree (master, diploma) in human medicine or the natural sciences, preferably with a focus on oncology, immunology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry
  • A doctorate is a strong advantage
  • You have specialist knowledge and experience in experimental and translational research in the field of gene and cell therapy
  • Experience in the field of process development and tissue engineering are an advantage
  • Relevant professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology companies and/or start-ups is desirable 
  • You have excellent IT skills
  • Your written and spoken German and English are verifiably business fluent
  • Ideally you have international work experience
  • You like to take on responsibility, work in a structured, goal-oriented and independent manner and are a communicative personality who enjoys working in a team
  • You are characterized by analytical thinking and the ability to familiarize yourself with new topics and content
  • You are willing to travel within Germany

  • Pay group E13 TVöD VKA-K. The classification is based on qualifications, the respective experience level is calculated on the basis of professional experience.
