We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate to develop and apply digital phenotyping strategies grounded in principles of circadian health. The project investigates daily rhythms and the timing of behaviors - such as sleep-wake patterns, temperature rhythms, light exposure, and meal timing - in the perioperative context to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of delirium using digital solutions. You will work in an interdisciplinary, international environment at the interface of chronobiology, digital health, and clinical care. Overview of the position
- Designing, planning, and coordinating data collection frameworks in collaboration with the research team, including the development of research data infrastructure to support large-scale and longitudinal data acquisition
- Comprehensive data curation, including data cleaning, documentation, quality assurance, and preparation of datasets for analysis
- Performing statistical analyses and applying advanced quantitative methods
- Analyses of large datasets while exploring temporal dynamics
- Developing and implementing computational approaches to extract meaningful metrics and identify patterns within complex datasets (e.g., actigraphy and data from other sensors)
- Interpreting results and contributing to the integration of findings into the broader research framework
- Presenting research results at seminars, workshops, and international conferences
- According to §110 BerlHG, the candidate will be provided with time for their own academic qualification
What we are looking for
- Master’s degree in bioinformatics, statistics, informatics, mathematics, data science, or a related quantitative field
- Strong interest in quantitative research, data analysis, and computational methods
- Experience with statistical softwares and programming languages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary research environment
- English is the group’s language, German proficiency is an advantage
- Previous experience in Chronobiology is an advantage
