Working at Charité

The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large. Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar.

For the the group Metabolomics starting from the earliest possible date limited until 28.02.2027 we are looking for a Technical Assistant (f/m/d) in full-time (39h/week) or in part-time (30h/week)

The BIH Metabolomics Platform pursues mass spectrometry metabolomics research with clear translational medicine potential. We are particularly interested in gut, heart and brain health and the interaction between them. We are an international team and seek a technical assistance with long-term perspectives.The new person in our team should feel confident with the work tasks as these often require high emphasis on the details and some tasks have to be carried out in a high speed manner. The chosen candidate will be trained on mass spectrometer device(s) and specific metabolite extractions in order to support research groups at the BIH, Charite and MDC.There is a chance that this maternity leave substitution position might be transferred into a permanent position.

What you can expect

  • Metabolite extractions for mass spectrometry amalysis of valuable samples, including clinical samples (stool, urine, plasma, etc.)
  • Preparation of mass spectrometry standards, buffers and serial dilutions
  • Ananlysis of extracted samples (depending on experience and expertise)
  • Ordering of consumables, labeling and organizing inventories
  • Other tasks that support efficent lab workflow

What you bring along

  • Bachelor or equivalent in chemistry, biology or similar scientific fields (CTA, MTA, BTA) with practical work experience
  • Practical experience with mass spectrometry is preferred but not required
  • High focus on small details
  • Basic English.
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good communication and strong ability to work within a team
