What distinguishes Charité from other clinics?

Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin was founded in 1710, and can thus look back on a long history and tradition. As a university hospital – the largest in Europe – Charité with its proximity to research and education is an ideal medical environment in contrast to conventional clinics. The associated pioneering spirit is evident, for example, in numerous research and innovation projects in which our employees are closely involved, and to which they can actively contribute. Our employees thus not only get to know innovative technologies and solutions long before they find everyday use, but can also actively test them as part of their own daily work. An example which enjoys great popularity is the ward of the future, where health-care staff can test innovations and the latest (digital) applications in their everyday clinical activities. Innovative medical technology – such as the da Vinci surgical robot which has been in use since 2014 - is a standard of ours. Charité's diversity is also reflected in the numerous advancement opportunities it offers: The possibilities for staff at our university hospital are virtually limitless.
